Words, Music & Wine Valentine--Campbell River Museum
“Loving is not just looking at each other, it's looking in the same direction”.
(Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Wind, Sand, and Stars, 1939)
Love knows many forms. Valentines Day is an excellent opportunity not only to express
your personal romantic side, but also to let it be known that we love the community in
which we live. The compassion, understanding and respect we have for each other and
for the city we build, contribute strongly to our quality of life.
The City has announced that Feb. 14th will officially be declared ‘Love Your Community
Day’. The Mayor will be on hand to read the proclamation.
Guest poets this year include the 2010 Haig-Brown Writer-in-Residence Harry Thurston,
Matt Rader from the Comox Valley and Annette Yourk from Quadra Island. Local
famed musician Rodrigo will play excerpts from his new CD ‘Vida’ and will have copies
on hand for sale.
Local organic chocolate makers ‘Sweetbits’ will be offering an opportunity to
experience their luscious line of organic chocolate. Sweetbits 'Health by Chocolate' is a
local business that specializes in sumptuous chocolates created from organic, raw, whole
foods. Discover the rejuvenating powers of raw cacao!
Gaylia, the Silhouette Lady will be on hand to cut silhouette portraits, at lovely prices.
An open mic session will be included for any community member wishing to present
their personal words on the subject of love and community. A wine bar will be available,
as will coffee and tea. Come alone, bring a friend, bring a lover – love is for all. Who
knows what chance encounters might occur? The community is invited to the Museum
to celebrate the best of who and what we are.
The cost for the afternoon is $6.00 plus any purchases. Please call the Museum at 287-
3103 or the Arts Council at 923-0213 to reserve a seat or a place at the open mic.
